She will have to undergo a surgery, post which we hope she will be fine and that she walks again! Loka is a stray, and thus a fighter and we know she will be fine! Another Russell's viper! Another rescue! We had rescued a Russell's viper only a few days back in Yogi Hills in Mulund. So, when we got a call on 26th June 12 pm, we were shocked! Again, our brave volunteer Ms. Sweta Bhanushali Ji rushed to the spot and there ensued an adventurous rescue mission. Sweta Ji was able to rescue the snake and later, it was let into the wild. Russell's viper is one of the most poisonous snakes in India. दुसऱ्यांदा यशस्वीपणे केला रसेल सापाचा बचाव काही दिवसांपूर्वीच मुलुंडमधील योगी हिल्स येथे उत्कर्षने रसेल सापाचा वाचवले होते आणि सुरक्षिपणे जंगलात सोडले होते. २६ जून २०२१ रोजी रात्री १२ वाजता उत्कर्षमध्ये रसेल सापाला वाचविण्यासाठी फोन आला, तेव्हा आम्हाला धक्काच बसला. पुन्हा आमची धाडसी स्वयंसेवक श्वेता भानुशाली बचाव करण्यासाठी सरसावली आणि घटनास्थळी वेळेचा विलंब न करता पोहोचली. श्वेताजींनी रसेल सापाला वाचविले आणि नंतर त्याला सुखरुपणे जंगलात सोडण्यात आले भारतातील सर्वात विषारी साप म्हणून रसेल साप ओळखला जातो.

Utkarsh rescues Russell's Viper in Mulund Animal rescues, especially wildlife rescues, are challenging. On one side, you want the rescuer to be safe, and on the other, you do not want the animal to be harmed. So, when on June 15, 2021, Utkarsh received an SOS call from Yogi Hills in Mulund, we knew it was going to be a challenge, after all, the one waiting to be rescued was Russell's Viper, one of the most poisonous snakes in India. Our volunteer, Ms Sweta Bhanushali Ji reached the spot soon after and rescued the snake. Later, the snake was handed over to the forest department. They released the snake soon into its natural habitat. About Russell's Viper – It is amongst the highly-venomous snakes in India. It accounts for thousands of deaths in Asia. Here is the video of Utkarsh Tree Plantation Drive, organised on June 5, 2021, on the occasion of World Environment Day at Mulund Cemetery, Mulund Colony in Mulund (West). We had also undertaken a cleanliness drive here last year. We thank Shri Bhanudas Magdum Ji , Assistant Engineer and Milind Ghegad Ji, Joint Engineer, from the Solid Waste Management Department of BMC for their cooperation and participation in the tree plantation drive and the earlier cleanliness drive. As a part of the Road Safety Month ((18 January -17 February, 2021) celebrations, Utkarsh had launched a mobile eye check-up van for drivers along with Doctor Siddhi Ji, Doctor Rishabh Singh Ji in Mulund. On 8 and 9 February, 2021, the van travelled in and around Mulund West where bus, auto rickshaw, and cab drivers participated in the eye check-up campaign. The mobile eye checkup drive for drivers proved to be a boon as studies state that 80% of road accidents occur due to drivers' error. Drivers with poor eyesight have 81% higher chances of causing road accidents. Around 1.5-2 Lakh people die every year in road accidents in India.

Londhe (in blue) and our amazing volunteers organised a Swatchhata Abhiyan at Tata Colony Cemetery in collaboration with MCGM on Sunday, January 10, 2021. As you can see, the whole area was filled with plastic waste which could have been hazardous to animals and birds. We don’t think when we throw away plastic carelessly as to where they will end up, but please note that such plastic waste is killing lakhs of animals and birds every year and people through plastic pollution. The cleanliness drive not only helped in clearing the area of plastic and other waste, but it also helped in beautifying the area.
